Mandatory server-training to become law
Just before this month’s Tavern Times’ deadline, Gov. Brian Schweitzer allowed the the mandatory server-training bill to become law, though he didn’t sign it.
The statewide program will require all sellers and servers of alcohol to be trained within 60 days of hire and every three years thereafter. The measure does not apply to volunteer servers.
The program will accept all approved training programs, including TIPS, TAMS, SERV-SAFE, and approved in-house programs.
Testimony throughout the legislative process was nearly unanimous in support of the measure.
