How Montana 'Sports Action' will work
Pub Date: 8/1/2008
Players will visit a Montana Sports Action retail location, select six eligible players from the official roster of professional football players and teams to create their ideal "fanatasy" team. Choose from six positions: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, kicker and defensive unit.
Players can also opt for a "Quick Pick" in which the computer will randomly select players from the beginning of season player roster.
Players will choose a play amount: $5, $10, $20, $50, or $100 which determines the shares a player is eligible to win should their team have one of the highest point totals at the end of the week.
After completion of each week s football games, points will be assigned to players and defensive units based on their performance for the week, including both positive and negative points.
Prize pool distribution is determined by the team s points and the player s share, at $5 per share. If a person purchases a $20 ticket (four shares) and that player s dream team has the top score for the week, if nobody else had the same combination, the player would win the entire top prize pool.
Using the same example, with a $20 ticket and a top score, if another player had the same dream team but purchased a $5 ticket, the two players would split the pot, with one player getting four/fifths and the other player would get one/fifth.
Sports Action Ticket sales where players select their teams will begin on Tuesday mornings for the next week s games. Ticket sales will be allowed until 30 minutes prior to the first scheduled game of the week, which could be Thursday, Saturday or Sunday, depending on the week s schedule. Quick Pick wagering will be allowed until 30 minutes before the beginning of the last game of the week.
Lucky players who end up winners at the end of the football weekend can redeem their tickets at any Sports Action retailer for prizes of $599 or less. Tickets winning $600 or more must by paid by Montana Lottery, either in person at Lottery Headquarters in Helena, or by mail.
