By Mike Lukach,
Campaign Manager,
Tim Fox for Attorney General (Republican)
Tim Fox is dedicated to returning conservative and family values to the office of Montana Attorney General. Tim is running for Attorney General because he believes that Montanans deserve to have safe communities, a better economy, good jobs, a smaller, more efficient government, and an elected official who represents Montana values.
Tim will also stand up and fight against Federal intrusion into our constitutional rights and our Montana way of life.
Born and raised in Hardin, Tim earned a college scholarship to the University of Montana, and distinguished himself in the classroom and in collegiate sports.
After earning his first college degree, Tim returned to the University of Montana in 1983 and was admitted to the graduate program in public administration for a year before entering law school at UM.
Since graduating from law school in 1987, Tim s 21 years of practicing law has equipped him to be Montana s next Attorney General.
Tim was a law clerk for the Montana Supreme Court, an attorney with Moulton, Bellingham, Longo & Mather of Billings, a program manager for the Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation, a solo criminal and civil law practitioner in Billings, a Special Assistant Attorney General and a Division Administrator for a Montana agency, and Vice-President and Legal Counsel for Mountain West Bank.
Since 2002, Tim has been a partner with Helena s Gough, Shanahan, Johnson & Waterman.
Tim s current law practice includes large and small business start-ups, complex civil litigation, real estate development, commercial transactions, collections and foreclosures, bankruptcy, mining and environmental law.
While with Mountain West Bank, Tim participated in hundreds of lending decisions involving Montana restaurant and tavern businesses, and related liquor and gaming licenses. Tim firmly believes that Montana s tavern and gaming industries are an integral and important part of Montana s economy and societal fabric.
As Montana s next Attorney General, Tim will ensure that the Gambling Control Division will continue to protect the Montana consumer while operating efficiently and fairly. Tim will encourage a level playing field for all Montana businesses, fair competition in the market place, lower taxes, and preservation of the value of business assets.
Tim is dedicated to working with all elected officials, regardless of political party, to faithfully serve the people of Montana.
Tim s community service experience includes several Gubernatorial board appointments, and service on the board of directors of low income housing projects, two symphony orchestras, a private Christian school, college athletic associations, and a home for young pregnant and parenting women.
Tim and his wife, Karen, live in Montana City, and have four children, Anna, Michael, Laura, and Caroline, and one grandchild, Grace.
