Town Pump shooting for $450,000 for food banks
Pub Date: 11/1/2005
The Town Pump Charitable Foundation hopes to raise at least $450,000 in its fourth annual fund raising campaign for food banks across Montana, according to company spokesman Maureen Kenneally. The foundation is providing $150,000 in matching funds.
The Be A Friend In Deed, Helping Those In Need campaigns have raised more than $750,000 in the previous three years for food banks statewide.
This year 47 food banks serving more than 50 communities will participate in the campaign.
The food bank campaign began on Sept. 1 and will continue until Nov. 30. All Town Pump stores, casinos and motels started collecting funds Oct. 1 and will continue until the end of the campaign.
Thirteen percent of Montana households are "food insecure" defined as having limited availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food and 3.8 percent of households experience hunger.
Kenneally stated, The continued success and growth of this fund raising effort is phenomenal. With the considerable help from our food bank partners and the generosity of Montanans, we will surpass $1 million in just four years.
