MTA meets January 30

Pub Date: 1/1/2007
The executive board of the Montana Tavern Association will meet Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. in the banguet room at Jorgenson's in Helena on the heels of the first 30 days of the 2007 Legislative session.

The board will hear committee reports and act on all business that may come before the board for consideration.

In addition, committees will meet prior to the executive board.

The Public Relations Committee will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. in the lounge'; the budget committee will meet in the banquet room from 10 a.m. to noon'; the legislative and gambling committee will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, also in the banquet room and the insurance committee will meet from noon until 1 p.m. in the Trophy Room.

Other committees may also meet and those chairpersons should contact the MTA office to arrange for a time and place.

Later that evening the gala MTA Legislative Cocktail Reception will be conducted in the Jorgenson's banquet room from 6 to 8 p.m.

The reception is limited to MTA members, legislators and invited guests. The food is excellent and ample and the bar is open.

The semi-annual Legislative Reception is a highlight of the MTA year. Licensees from around the state make the effort to travel the distances in order to partake of the fare, but also to take the opportunity to speak with their local legislators in the capital city on matters of importance and interest.

MTA President Jupe Compton notes there are already over 50 bills drafted or being drafted that are of interest to small business in general and licensees in particular. He said he expects MTA members to turn out in force for the reception and to make their concerns known to their representatives.
