Missoula Country Club to host tourney, golf

By Jim Haney

Brad Martens, owner/partner of the world famous Rhino Bar in downtown Zoo Town, is heading up this year's MillerCoors/Marie Durkee Memorial golf tournament.
The event kicks off the 54th annual Montana Tavern Association Convention and Trade Show. Brad and his merry band of volunteers (Bob Hayes and Jack Joseph of Summit Beverage, Brian Shennun of Exact Image and Jim Haney of the Montana Tavern Times) have been working night and day gathering hole sponsorships, prizes and new shirt designs to make sure this year's event will be the best ever.
One of Montana's finest and most challenging golf courses – the 18-hole, 6,585-yard, par-71 Missoula Country Club – will host this year's tournament and the 19th Hole Party.
Golf pro Skip Koprivica and General Manager Ron Svien are ready to have you all enjoy their golf course and hospitality.
Blind draws will decide teams, and handicaps will be considered to keep things competitive. Prizes will be awarded to the top-finishing four or five teams, as well as longest drive, longest put, closest to the pin and other awards that this reporter cannot publish in this “family” edition of the Tavern Times!
Transportation from the Hilton will leave at 10:30 a.m. Tee time is noon with the 19th hole party running from 6 until 8:30 p.m.
Remember to preregister with the MTA when paying your convention fees or call the office at 406-442-5050.
This tournament is all about having fun and golfers of all relative skill levels are welcome to come out and enjoy themselves.
