Machine withdrawal rule
Pub Date: 1/1/2003
Huntington asked the council to consider another rule change that would tighten requirements for filing a gaming machine "letter of withdrawal," specifically mandating it be filed within 30 days after the machine has been switched off. He said the rule would allow the division to get a more accurate handle on the state's active machine inventory.
Ronda Carpenter, speaking for the Montana Coin Machine Operators, said with just 30 days allowed, many machines, especially those in more remote rural areas, couldn't be repaired and returned to service within 30 days, so would have to be withdrawn, then another application for permit would have to be filed, adding substantially to paperwork.
The council then decided to recommend that a 45-day time frame would be ample for both operators' and the division's needs.
