Town Pump and its charitable foundation announced just before Christmas that it had raised and contributed $910,000 for Montana's food banks, which are dedicated to feeding the state's needy. This year's goal was $750,000.
The Town Pump Charitable Foundation primes the campaign with a guaranteed match of $200,000 for donations to the food banks.
Donation centers are set up in each of the company's stores across the state as well as at food banks in nearly 50 locations.
This year the program, "Be A Friend in Deed, Helping Those In Need," raised $250,000 more than last year, according to foundation spokesman Maureen Kenneally. Over the last five years the campaign has raised 2.3 million, Kenneally said, of which $600,000 came directly from the foundation.
Kenneally termed the contributions "an extraordinary amount," and expressed gratitude to the thousands of Montanans who contributed and helped the program surpass all previous marks. This year's goal was $750,000.
