Town Pump making news

Pub Date: 7/1/2007
Town Pump and its gaming affiliates have been making the news.

The founder and president of Town Pump Inc., Tom Kenneally, Sr., and his wife, Mary, recently gave a major gift to Montana Tech's Project Dreams campaign.

The company's charitable foundation gave the Butte college a $100,000 donation to help pay for renovations to its basketball and volleyball courts which will ultimately cost $600,000, it was reported.

The new court flooring will feature Town Pump corporate logos.

The Montana Standard quoted Kenneally as saying, Montana Tech is a cornerstone of Butte in providing excellence in education and building our future leaders. It is important that students have opportunities to excel both in the classroom and in athletics as this is where leadership and team play are also learned.

The company also garnered a large spread in the Sidney Herald when it awarded Lucky Lil's employee Trinity Emly and her fellow Sidney workers $1,900 for passing a compliance check when she refused to sell alcohol to an undercover minor. The award is part of Town Pump's "Unstung Heroes" campaign which has also been featured in state-wide television commercials.

The program allows employees to share in a reward that starts at $1,000 every quarter, but is boosted by $100 for every compliance check that workers pass. Those who pass have their names entered in a drawing. The employee whose name is drawn then shares the prize with staff at that store. The individual clerk also receives $150 and the store manager gets $75.

The company has paid employees over $13,000 since the program's inception. All company clerks and servers take mandatory Training for intervention Procedures (TIPS) or Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM).
