The Town Pump Charitable Foundation has given away almost $2 million
Pub Date: 1/1/2003
Through a combination of its charitable foundation and direct corporate giving, Town Pump Corporation has contributed more than $1.8 million to worthy causes state-wide since 2000.
The Town Pump Charitable Foundation was established with the mission of providing financial support to Montana charitable or governmental organizations with a priority of supporting and meeting basic needs of the state's residents, with an additional focus on education for Montana citizens.
The Town Pump Charitable Foundation gives primarily to Montana charitable or governmental organizations, and the Town Pump Inc. Giving Program is designed to contribute to other worthy causes that do not qualify through the Foundation.
A Town Pump Inc. spokesman said, "We recognize the importance of positive community involvement. By supporting a wide array of activities in every community and the surrounding areas, we fulfill our social responsibility to contribute to the development of our Montana communities and citizens."
Here are some highlights of the Town Pumps charitable giving programs:
Food banks
The Town Pump Charitable Foundation food bank fund-raiser was started in 2002 to achieve two goals. The first goal is very straightforward: the company wanted to provide funds for food banks to enable ALL our neighbors to have nutritious food and meals for their families. The second goal is to raise the awareness of hunger in Montana.
Town Pump understands a food bank does not keep its doors open through food donations alone. This is why they have committed to bringing much needed cash funds to assist with building rent, utilities, purchase of bulk food items and perishables such as meat, produce, dairy and bread. By the end of the 2004 campaign, more than $750,000 will have been collected, including the $250,000 of matching funds committed by Town Pump, to feed the hungry in Montana.
Education
Since 2000, through the Town Pump Charitable Foundation and Town Pump's alliance with Exxon/Mobil, more than 340 grants have been given to our Montana elementary and secondary schools. This represents a total investment of $180,000 in our children's education and future.
AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)
In response to the need for AED units in all regions of Montana, the Town Pump Charitable Foundation donated $110,000 for 59 units to be placed with emergency and first-responders in communities throughout Montana.
AEDs are machines that are used to administer an electric shock to the heart in order to establish normal heart rhythm in cases of cardiac arrest due to ventricular fibrillation. Town Pump's goal is to make sure that all Montanans have access to these lifesaving devices. In addition, 500 potential new emergency responders have been trained in the use of this valuable equipment.
