Rabold promoted to general manater in March
Pat Rabold sits at the apex of the Fleetwood Manufacturing management triumvirate comprised of Rabold as general manager, Art LaGaly as sales manager and Brian Duval as product development manager.
Fleetwood Manufacturing develops, engineers and builds video gambling machines (VGMs) at its Billings headquarters and has done so since 2002. Fleetwood Gaming is a limited VGM distributor with vendor route services.
Rabold was promoted to Fleetwood General Manager in March of 2009 following the departure of former General Manager Thom Propp. Rabold had been Fleetwood's Human Resources manager since late 2005.
But Rabold's association with the tavern business goes way back. His father, Mike, after wrapping up a nine-year career as a player with the Chicago Bears football team, owned and operated a Bloomington, Ind., beer distributorship.
Pat evidently inherited some of his father's football genes. After graduating from Hinsdale South High School in 1984, he attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship where he earned a bachelor's degree in sports marketing in 1990.
While at UW, Rabold was a four-year varsity letterman, team co-captain in 1988, an AP All-American, the 1988 Western Athletic Defensive Player of the Year and, finally, was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the NFL draft. In 2004, he was inducted into the UW Athletics Hall of Fame.
After graduation, Rabold moved to Billings to coach the Billings Central High School football team. He also began working for athletic retailer Footlocker where he earned numerous awards.
In 1995, the Rabold family moved to Cody, Wyo., where Pat was marketing director for a restaurant group. Pat's wife of 19 years, Tessie, and her family are from Cody.
The Rabolds were back in Billings in 1997 where Pat worked as an associate manager for Golden Corral Restaurants. He was a general manager for that company from 2001-2005 when he hired on with Fleetwood as human resources director. He earned his Professional in Human Resources certification in January of 2009. He was promoted to general manager in March of this year.
Pat and Tessie have a son, Brooks, age 18, who is a freshman at the University of Montana and is, naturally, a member of the Grizzlies football team. They also have a daughter, Miranda, age 16, who is a sophomore at Billings Central High School, is a competitive soccer player and is on the track and field team.
As such, Pat says he spends a lot of time watching his kids' athletic endeavors but manages to squeeze in the occasional round of golf or a little skiing. He continues to help with football coaching at Billings Central.
"I'm excited for Fleetwood as a company," Rabold says. "We have huge potential in Montana. We've got a lot of innovative games in the pipeline. We're positioned to take advantage of that."
