Prosecutor, legislator Parker vows to guard rights

By John Parker
Democratic Candidate for Montana Attorney General

I am running for Montana Attorney General because I want to make Montana a safer place to live, work and raise a family.

I have spent my entire legal career as a prosecutor, handling the full range of felony cases.  I have held people accountable for operating meth labs, burglarizing homes, robbing businesses at gunpoint, and victimizing children.  I have handled over 800 felony cases, and I have more law enforcement and legislative experience than all the other candidates combined.

As a State Representative, I passed legislation targeting dangerous high-risk predators and creating more treatment opportunities for low-risk offenders so they can continue working their jobs and paying taxes. As a result of these efforts, I have been fortunate to earn a broad base of support from people in every corner of our state. I am ready to take my work to a higher level by serving as Montana s next Attorney General.

My family has worked in the hospitality industry for generations, running motels, restaurants and bars.  I waited tables when I was in college.  By speaking with my parents and grandparents as well as helping out in these businesses I have developed great respect for the locally-owned, main street businesses in Montana.

When criminals have stolen hard-earned money from these folks, or threatened the lives of their employees, I took these cases to court to help make sure justice was served.  This is the perspective I will bring as the next Attorney General for the State of Montana.

As a Montanan, I treasure the opportunities to hunt, fish, and recreate with our families and I will certainly guard these rights as a member of the State Land Board. I will also honor our constitutional obligation to fund quality schools through the appropriate use of our natural resources.

I have enjoyed the chance to work with current Attorney General Mike McGrath on many legislative matters during the past six years, and I will strive every day to make the Montana Department of Justice an even more effective resource for local law enforcement agencies and all the people of our great state.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my plans to make Montana a better, safer place to live.  For more information, please visit my web-site at .  I truly hope I can earn your support and your vote.
